Danielle Lavoie
Executive Director
I am honoured to work and play on the traditional and unceded Tsimshian territory. After previously working at Kermode Friendship Society as the Complex Developmental Behavioural Conditions coordinator for the past 8 years I have taken all the teachings from my colleagues, families, teachers and elders I met along the way and hold them close to my heart. I have only recently accepted the position of Executive Director at the Hospice Society. I feel humbled to come on board at this time of exciting growth and opportunity. There are so many more ways to expand and reach the community and surrounding areas in a meaningful way, and I am grateful to be a part of this process as we move to a regional status and expand our programming to include working with youth and surrounding communities.
We all end up in the role of caregiver at some point in our lives and we are all touched by death at different points in our lives, and I am certainly no exception to that. Being able to walk beside those who are grieving or caring for someone who is facing a life limiting illness is a privilege which I feel blessed to be a part of. I grew up in Terrace and enjoy the beauty all around me every day. I like to be outside as much as possible, hiking, running, gardening, reading, camping and kayaking and spending my free time with family and friends and my three dogs. I have spent my career working with the vulnerable population, both in care homes and in other roles in the community. I have a background in counselling, addictions, leadership, and holistic nutrition. Wellness is my passion. I love to look for ways to promote wellness in all areas of my life. I believe everyone deserves to be treated with compassion, kindness and care and I enjoying helping individuals live as fully and as independently as possible, honoring their wishes, whatever they may be.
